    Dear Fr. Brian,

This problem affect me for a while, until I decided to spent some
time on it. Just now i translated my recipe, and hope it helps you and
others:

*How to use Gregorio on windows (and Linux too)*

*(uptated as of September/October, 2012)*

  Programs download and installation

Install TeXLive, downloading from
http://mirror.ctan.org/systems/texlive/tlnet/install-tl.zip (or any
other CTAN mirror), unzipping it and then running the
/install//-tl//.bat/ in a command window. I answered "yes" to all
questions, and it took about two hours to finish; this step requires an
internet connection. In case of fails, rerun the /install//-tl//.bat/,
and the installation resumes nicely from where it stoped..

After that, install Gregorio, using one of the files in
http://download.gna.org/gregorio/releases/current/. For windows it´s the
/.exe/ one.

*Then some adjustments are due, as told below. I used/tested this
procedure in two machines, a desktop with Windows Vista Home Premium (32
bits), and notebbok with Windows 7 (64 bits) Home Premium. Also worked
with Linux (Debian Squeeze and Debian Wheezy).*

  Settings for Gregorio

As stated in
http://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/msg00794.html, some
lies of the gregoriotex.tex file need to be modified (for recent TeXLive
versions)

The gregoriotex.tex file is located in
C:\texlive\texmf-local\tex\generic\gregoriotex\gregoriotex.tex, and
inLinux /usr/share/texmf/tex/gregoriotex/gregoriotex.tex. Changes:

line 112 -- change from /directlua/ to /luadirect,/ resulting in
/\let\gredirectlua\luadirect/

line 119 -- change from /luatexUseModule/ to /RequireLuaModule,/
resulting in /\let\greloadluamodule\RequireLuaModule/

line 122 -- change from /luaUseModule/ to /RequireLuaModule,/ resulting
in /\let\greloadluamodule\RequireLuaModule/

Run the following commands in a DOS windows (command prompt):

/updmap/ /--enable/ /Map/ /greciliae.map/

/updmap --enable Map gresym.map/

attention: if those commands fail, try using as in
/Map//=//greciliae//.//map/

Besides all that, in the .gabc files where the score is described,
comment (or don´t use) the line related to text alignment with the notes:

/%centering-scheme: latin;/

In order to turn the line into a comment, just add a /%/sign at the
start of the line, in the first colunm.

    That´s it.

    my best regards,

    Luís Henrique
