You needn't have reinstalled them, I just needed to know where the libraries 
where. However, MacPorts is a good tool, so you do gain that. 

First, let's see where ltdl.h is hiding

In the terminal, type

   mdfind -name ltdl.h


I had to tweak the include path and library path of the Makefile to pick them 
up. 

Once I know where they are, I can show you where and how to tweak the Makefile.
