Dear Elie,

In terms of priorities for further developments for Gregorio, I wonder if
you might consider working on the flats system for the next release. We've
corresponded about this before, and here is the task that you inputted back
in March, http://gna.org/task/?7673, which includes my original suggestion.

Although I'm also interested in the possibility of a "Dominican" flat
implementation, I think that at least implementing the standard
Solesmes-style flat system would be of great value for all users of
Gregorio. To give one example of where this would be important for regular
users of Gregorio, I would refer to the following setting of the Gradual
"Viderunt omnes" from Gregobase.

http://gregobase.selapa.net/chant.php?id=1163

The flat in the fourth line of the chant is not repeated on the following
line for the other notes that in the source editions of the *Graduale
Romanum *and *Liber Usualis *are included under the flat. Currently,
someone who wanted to use this score would have to first of all notice that
there was an error, then correct it in different ways based on the width of
the score, the font size and font, etc. If it were possible to have the
flats be more automated, it would make an individual GABC file much more
versatile and would save a lot of time and prevent errors such as these.
This would in turn make repositories such as GregoBase much easier to use.

Thanks for your consideration. If anyone else has comments to add on this
question, please let me know.

Yours,

bro. Innocent, op
