Dear Michael,
With my current settings, lualatex does not like to insert a pagebreak
after one line of chant. If it doesn't have room for two lines, it
will take the whole chant to the next page and leave a lot of space.
What value do I need to look at to make one line before a break ok?
You can try
\widowpenalty=0
\clubpenalty=0
if you have an not-so-recent svn version (or 2.3 version) or you can
change the values of \grewidwspenalty and \greclubpenalty in
gsp-default.tex if you have a very recent one.
You can even give negative values instead of 0.
