In theory it should be able to get it to work under 10.5.8, but it certainly 
will be a challenge. The hard part for me is that I have no 10.5.8 machines 
left to try this on. But I can try an guide you through.

Some preliminaries:

1) The latest TexLive supports 10.5, so that is one big hurdle less. Which 
version of Tex are you using?

2) The next is Xcode. I presume that you’ve installed it. Which version?

3) What architecture is the Mac? Intel or PPC?
