TeXLive is installed, but it would make sense, now that I think about
it, that root couldn't find it.  The TeXLive install instructions
recommend installing it as a normal user.  It appears that it may
"default" to /usr/local/, but on Linux Mint, that isn't a directory I
can write to without sudo - so I installed it in my home directory,
which is a larger partition anyway.  The PATH is set within my
.profile file.

"locate kpsewhich" doesn't return anything - but the kpsewhich command
does run, as me.
