Dear All,
Since mentioning the Gregorio IRC channel at #gregorio a few
weeks ago I saw an influx of two people (yay!). I found
that there were three people only that are usually connected.
However, if the channel is going to be profitable, we really
should use it.
If we aren't going to use it, then perhaps we should close
it so the reference to the channel could be removed from the
Gregorio website <http://home.gna.org/gregorio/contact>.
In my opinion, I have found that well-used IRC channels can
be of great benefit to users as it provides for instant
interaction and easy problem-solving. Sometimes we try to
do these things through email, but if we had tried it
through the IRC channel, it would have been easier going.
In my opinion (and I recognize that I am a nobody), I think
we need to use both and that more folks (especially a dev or
two) should "haunt" the #gregorio channel.

If you all are not familiar with IRC, it is just a chat room.
It doesn't cost anything, but it is better than email if you
need to actually talk to someone - the conversation is
instant - like using Instant Messaging. There are a good
number of IRC applications for every platform. In Windows,
one of my favourites is Instantbird
<https://duckduckgo.com/l/?kh=-1&uddg=http%253A%252F%252Fwww.instantbird.com%252F>(so
easy) and right now I am trying Quassel
<http://quassel-irc.org>.
If we all try it out and get used to using it, it could
become a great resource.

To that end, if you're a Mac user, Adium (an all around excellent

Methinks that the IRC channel could be of benefit to us if we would use it.
Here is a link to the webchat.
http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=gregorio
I have also added the link and the channel name to the GregoWiki:

Is anyone on the list aware that there is a #gregorio IRC channel on
Freenode?
Well, there is. It would be neat if there were more than 3 people in
the inactive list... :-)
