Just checking in to say I managed to get TeXlive 2014 installed and everything is processing correctly. Thank goodness for that!

So, does the file exist? Based on the beginning of the log, greg-book did not find any files for compiling itself so either those gtex files already exist and are up to date (according to greg-book) or the greg-book detection algorithm is being thrown off by the optional argument.
