Dear All, > I have a typical example in > http://gregobase.selapa.net/chant.php?id=4505 First, "potestas" was > hyphenated "pot(hiwj)é(j)stas(g)" as in the original (Antiphonale > Romanum) then it was corrected in "po(h!iwj)tés(j)tas(g)" which > conforms more to usual latin hyphenation... Is there a best way ?
Yes, see https://github.com/gregorio-project/hyphen-la/blob/master/doc/phonetic-rules.md in this case it's pot-ens. It seems most Abbeys agree on this document, but it's still under discussion... Anyways, all Abbeys agree that it should be pot-ens, the discussions are on other points. Most people are not really aware of these rules and use the same phonetic rules used for syllable quantity determination, but they're not the same. The project is still under heavy discussion and development, but it will be quite easy to make a proofreader of scores once it's finished. > Whould gregobase take in account these variations ? I think it would be a mistake... > Whould gregorio take in account these variations into a single > score? No, that's not Gregorio's job.
