There was some corruption in the text part of the data file. I'm putting a corrected version at http://www.ecn.wfu.edu/~cottrell/misc/ESYE_TABLE_07MAR07.gdt For future reference: hopefully corruption of gretl data files is not something that happens very often, but these files are just gzipped XML. You can copy a file foo.gdt to foo.txt.gz, then run gunzip on the latter to get foo.txt, an XML file. You can then open foo.txt in a text editor and see what's wrong. If it's fixable, then copy the fixed file to foo.gdt and open it in gretl. (gretl data files don't have to be gzipped.) Allin Cottrell
