Please give an example of such a specification (data file plus
script). Off-list if you prefer, or if the size of the data is
bigger than the max size of a posting to the list.

We don't have a crystal ball, and have no way of telling what's
going wrong when an unknown set of commands is performed on a
unknown dataset.
