Thanks Jack, I already learned a lot from looking at the yahoo hansl code ;-)
The download was from ariva.de, a site providing data from German stock 
exchanges.

Same here. By the way, your data looks suspiciously yahoo-like. Are you aware 
of the fact that we have a function package doing the most boring part of the 
job for you? It's called "yahoo_get".
