The group hasn't been abandoned - it gets 5 or 6 real messages a day. Just hard to find in all the freaking spam!!! I should know, cuz I answer most of 'em :) Development definitely looks stopped, but the library works well as is so this is not tragic. Adding features for the sake of features is the road to bloatware.
