Just add the keyword to the configuration of your bootloader (lilo's
append-line in /etc/lilo.conf or kernel option for grub in
/boot/grub/menu.lst).

Please notice that recent versions of grml-autoconfig (currently
available through the grml-testing repository) use "textsplash" as
keyword for the text based bootsplash so it does not clash with
namespace of existing graphical versions.
