    Merge branch '1.24.x'

I've been trying to keep the groff Git repository clean of merge
commits, but I messed up earlier today, and accidentally pushed more
changes than I intended to the master branch. That created a problem
for "git describe", which decided that the "1.24.1" tag was not
reachable from the "HEAD" of "master". (Which, strictly, it wasn't.)

Savannah doesn't permit force-pushes to _any_ branch, and rewriting the
history of the master branch under most circumstances is perilous
    anyway, hence the merge.

The groff project doesn't have a lot of experience with stable branches
being maintained simultaneously with development ones in Git, so I guess
    we're acquiring it now.
