I have never used refer to its fullest capabilities. Luckily I have only ever had only tens of references in my papers, I have just numbered them manually and used a '.RL' to print them. I need to do this properly nowbecause I have to worry about 100+ references in the current report. If I use footnote, and I do not want to use them for bibliographies, I simply insert the string \*F in the test, put my test between FS/FE and it all just happens, as in Here is a footnote \*F and it will appear at the bottom .FS Some footnote text. .FE of the pages. However, by using a small extension to the MM macros suggested by Andy Dougherty, the following manual numbering stuff works because I do not sort the references. I use a '.RL' for the display of the accumulated references when they are flushed. .R1 no-label-in-text no-label-in-reference label L join-authors " & " ", " ", & " database /z1/esi/damianm/admin/crc/2203/bibliography accumulate .R2 Here is the first reference [1] about strength of composites. .[ strength9 .] And here is the second [2] one which talks about the .[ layup57 .] layers in the panel. And here is the lucky last, or [3] which mentions induced noise. .[ noisey9 .] Really rough heh! .HU References .[ $LIST$ .] There has to be a better way to ensure that the numbering is automatic and I do not have to keep track of it. Any ideas? Thanks - Damian Pacific Engineering Systems International, 22/8 Campbell St, Artarmon NSW 2064 Ph:+61-2-99063377 .. Fx:+61-2-99063468 | unsolicited email not wanted here ! this is probably not helpful, but could'nt you just switch to MS (where the necessary macros exit and auto-numbering is not a problem)? or maybe these MS macros can be exploited/copied/modified to get it to work with MM, too?
