To be fair, you did cite the specific commit in your OP, but did not
offer a very focussed critique.

Thinking only of {f,}printf() cases, I leapt into battle, and promptly
forgot about the commit you mentioned.
It seems we're closer to agreement on return-value discard of
s*printf()-family functions.
But possibly remain as far apart as ever regarding {f,}printf().
