Following this discussion from a distro perspective - "What
defaults should Gentoo use?" - i'm inclined to agree with this
assessment of the most common scenario. Gentoo uses man-db+groff
for man pages by default - though mandoc is an option - and is
thus in a position of having to determine which hyphenation
default is most likely to be best for most users, regardless of
what the groff project goes with.
