As per the discussion last week, I'm writing a draft that specifies a set of communities that could be helpful with selective filtering of deaggregates.
However, I'm not sure whether it makes sense to use regular communities or extended communities. If I define a new extended community, how does this work in existing routers? (I have to admit I've never used extended communities...) I know that if I base the whole thing on regular communities, it can work today in existing routers and then maybe in the future routers could recognize the semantics of those communities and gain extra functionality. But what if I define a new extended community, will it show up in a usable way in existing routers? I need 16 - 18 bits to encode my information, so this would fit both in a regular or an extended community, using 4 bytes in both cases. _______________________________________________ GROW mailing list [email protected] https://www.ietf.org/mailman/listinfo/grow
