Hello all,
This version’s most significant change is to fix a race condition in
the signature validation of the Update Notification File. While the
window for hitting the race condition was only tens of milliseconds,
NRTMv4’s one minute update frequency actually made it a daily
occurrence.
v04 also has a number of smaller clarifications[1] that were mostly
already common practice.
There has been much progress in implementations as well:
* IRRDv4 has a full implementation of v04 of the draft[2] (version not
yet released).
* The RIPE db software has a server implementation of v03.
* IRRDv4 can successfully mirror both from another IRRDv4 instance and
from a RIPE db instance (with a compatibility shim for RIPE db’s v03
signature location).
* The only feature not yet tested for the RIPE db server with IRRDv4
client, is key rotation.
* RIPE db does not have a client implementation yet.
