Job, Thanks for the reminder.
I support adoption and would encourage others to do the same. I often describe BMP as "the firehose of all of your BGP sent through the drinking straw of a single TCP session". A consequence of unfiltered feeds is that any applications that have need of timeliness or a lower incidence of state compression from the BGP RIB views can have latency issues or simply miss important events. Such considerations are absolutely operator and deployment-scenario specific. Today, nothing stops an implementation from providing filtering mechanisms. I rather encourage them! However, without an extension like the one in this draft it becomes difficult for a BMP consumer to distinguish whether it is properly getting the configured subset of the feed or not. This is doubly true if a given BMP consumer is taking more than one feed with different filtering attributes from the same router. BMP transport over multiple QUIC streams would also significantly benefit from such a feature. -- Jeff > On Oct 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM, Job Snijders <[email protected]> wrote: > > Dear all, > > This is a gentle reminder to solicit feedback on whether this should > be a WG document or not!
