thanks, I did not notice that bug and that was my problem (it is
relevant because I had the same issue with other apps too).

Looking at the bug (https://bugs.launchpad.net/growl/+bug/251371) the
last comment says "We don't need to worry about this in 1.2, let's
work on this in 1.3 possibly." which sounds like a fix for this is
quite far away... any ETA for 1.3 and chances to see this in? And if
it's a problem of priorities and lack of resources any chance someone
could take a stab at pointing me toward the right direction so I can
try to fix this myself? I understand it might be not critical for most
of the people, but it's a showstopper for me since I don't like noises
as they distract me but are very useful in a small set of cases for
which growl is just perfect.
