Growl's installers don't modify Safari, so they haven't corrupted
Safari in any way.
We do supply an input manager called GrowlSafari. I used to use it
regularly, and it hasn't changed in awhile, so I can assure you that
it works fine.
My guess is that you're using GrowlSafari and one or more other input
managers together. No-one can predict how any two input managers will
interoperate, and it's possible that GrowlSafari and another input
manager are conflicting.
My suggestion is to delete GrowlSafari, or to try removing other input
managers and see what other one might be the culprit.
There are two places to look. Straight input managers are here:
Your startup disk
Library
InputManagers
Some other programs use a program called SIMBL (Smart Input Manager
Bundle Loader), which regulates them a bit. For example, SIMBL allows
plug-ins to specify which applications to load them into, whereas an
input manager loads into *every* application.
SIMBL plug-ins have their own folder:
Your Home folder
Library
Application Support
SIMBL
Plugins
GrowlSafari is a plain input manager, not a SIMBL bundle, so it's in
the InputManagers folder.

Growl itself does not affect Safari, or any other application. To
delete GrowlSafari, drag it to the Trash, log out, log back in, and
empty the Trash.
