Seems the OSX port installed it incorrectly. I just reinstalled and it works fine now. Something to do with GrowlHelperApp.app. Whenever I double clicked on it, TextMate would open with the growlRegDict file.
Just uninstalled the port and installed the DMG from the growl website.
