Daye, I have used GrowlMail successfully in the past. I didn't recently upgrade to 10.5.8, nor did I update the OS and Growl on the same day.
I did not experience issues with GrowlMail until converting from POP to IMAP access in Mail.app. (I didn't upgrade to Growl 1.2 and set-up IMAP access on the same day). After converting from POP to IMAP, I noticed I had stopped receiving GrowlMail notifications. (I had disabled GrowlMail notifications while Mail.app imported all my messages into the new IMAP account inbox. When I re-enabled GrowlMail, no notifications appeared for new, arriving Inbox messages). I uninstalled GrowlMail and reinstalled using the Extras > GrowlMail .pkg bundled with Growl 1.2. Strangely, I was prompted for an admin password, then I received the error message. After repairing permissions and a restart, I'm no longer prompted for an admin password, but the install still fails with the same error message displayed.
