You're going to have to give us more information than this Russel. This is like walking into a mechanic shop, stopping at the first person you see, saying the car is making a noise, imitating the noise, only to have that person explain that he's the janitor.

You expect us to work on the fact that you have some files with weird names in them, and not a lot else. What is a file with "characters that don't make a lot of sense in a dir. path.". What directory path? What did you use to determine they were being created?

Nothing Growl creates is "deeply embedded down the path of the mac HD private directory". I'm not sure that there is even anything in OS X called "private directory".

Please restate the problem, but this time with a lot more information. We'll be unable to help you out until you explain what you are concerned about with a bit more clarity.

when installing evernote, it asks if i want to install growl (and
states a download is not necessary). i click ok and it creates some
growl files deeply embedded down the path of the mac HD private
directory. it did this twice and i believe created some wasteful
files and now i'm not sure what to delete. the files are long names,
characters that dont make alot of sense in the dir. path. please
research this and get back to me.
