I am a Systems Administrator for about 1500 Macs at a large advertising agency. Until recently I've been able to deploy Growl to these Macs silently and without issue. I did this by modifying the package and removing the part of the postflight script that would cause system preferences to launch upon install completion.
With the release of Growl 1.2, built with Xcode for Snow Leopard, I can no longer pull out this script or silently and stealthily install Growl on all my machines, because the pkg container is locked. This has made me resort to rebuilding the Growl package from scratch, pulling in the files and rewriting the preflight script by hand. I would very much appreciate it if the developers would restore the ability for me to modify the package so I can mass-deploy the package again without making System Preferences launch in front of a user who would become easily confused by this (since the install was initiated remotely) Thank you, and regards, -Sean Hansell -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Growl Discuss" group.
