The best way would be to use BeepHammer to enable logging, and see if the
notification is getting to Growl in the first place. BeepHammer ships with
the SDK, and is pretty easy to use. I think the checkbox is in the
preferences of that app.

If it's not in the log, then it's a problem on the adium end. If it's in the
log, then it's on the growl end. Makes determining where to start a bit
easier. :)
