What version number does Growl show in the About tab of its preference pane in 
System Preferences?

What Growl displays are you using?

A sample only helps with hangs; it tells us nothing related to memory usage. 
For that, we need the output of the leaks and heap commands, which are part of 
Apple's developer tools.
