If the forum offers an RSS feed for each thread, you can subscribe to that feed
in a feed reader such as Vienna or NetNewsWire. Virtually all feed readers on
the Mac support Growl; those that do are listed here:
http://growl.info/applications.php?cat=Feed+Readers
It is not possible for a website to directly notify you through Growl.
