I had already closed the notifications that were actually visible on the screen. Growl 1.2.1 Mac OS X 10.6.4 Safari 5.0.2 The app that the majority of the notifications came from was Adium 1.4.1, but there were also quite a few that were posted by a remote growlnotify script on another machine.
