AlBook, 1.25 GHz G4 running 10.5.2 2 gig ram . Growl 1.2.1. Ever since the most recent Growl update I received, Growl has been randomly stopping. Silent failure, I generally notice it when I get the noise from Mailplane and/or Adium and nothing shows up on my screen. I have it displayed in the overhead task bar, and when I check it, it is offering 'Start Growl'. When it's working, it offers 'Restart Growl' and 'Stop Growl'. I've tried counting messages to see if it fails after a certain number, but I haven't found anything consistent.
I saw a previous message saying that someone had just changed the notification theme. Unfortunately, other styles don't really work well for me -- I had tried changing the ones for mailplane, just to try them out, and it was failing in odd and other ways. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled growl 3 times, thinking that it might not have 'taken' the first time. I rebooted between each uninstall, reinstall, and 'try to run' just in case something needed that sort of initialization. I have growl enabled for mailplane, adium, growl, and hardware growler. I did have it for skype before, but haven't re-added that since trying to solve this problem. If you can give me more explicit step-by-step directions (than was in that one message asking for it from the person who just changed their theme to fix it) as to how to *find* the crash file in the first place, I'll be happy to send one in. /amq -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Growl Discuss" group.
