I've only used rules and smart folders separately. Do they work together somehow? Because it seems to me that the most flexible and integrated approach (if less obvious than the present growlmail preference tab) would be to trigger growlmail based on rules, providing maximum control over what notifications were generated, and perhaps even somewhat over their style or appearance. I gather there's a major new version in the works anyway, and I suppose that approach has at least been considered for it. Rules would be the most flexible, but they are too complicated for most people, without help. A preference tab that effectively generated or updated some particular rules (distinguishable from all the rest somehow) would allow the current ease of use for those who didn't need more, while providing maximum flexibility for those who did, provided they were willing to learn how to use it. That's as far as I can carry that thinking. The sort of programming involved is not something I have enough experience at to produce code with any likely amount of time invested. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Growl Discuss" group.
