The Apps list under "system preferences" > "Growl" > "Applications". There's a list there that includes Scrivener, for example, Firefox and etcetera.
But, as I've said, I'm not on mac right now, so I can't list them all. I can assure you that no notification ever appeared on screen for me, except the Growl test, under system preferences.
