I used the disk that came with my new Officejet 6500A to install the drivers and scanning software, and today, I received a notice that a more current version of Growl was available online. Like others, my first reactions was "WTF is this!?!"
Long story short, I do not have nor ever installed any of the programs listed as doing stealth installs of Growl. I have not installed any applications recently with the exception of the HP stuff yesterday, and my first Growl notice was today. Maybe HP should be added to the list. As an aside, I thought I might try it before dumping it, but the installed version would not let me add applications, nor did any appear in the application list from the system preferences pane. I'm sure if I would've updated, a full-featured version would've been installed, but I have no idea what it was doing or where it came from in the first place. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Growl Discuss" group.
