It seems to me as though autotest is simply creating a new application
entry each time and indeed the settings are being lost.  Changes never
take effect and when you switch tabs it changes out of the currently
selected autotest.  So while it may be entirely a bug in the prefpane,
feels as though the app is disappearing and resetting each time
autotest runs.
