I think if you consider entourage and outlook 2 different email clients, versus outlook just an upgrade, then you'd probably be a bit more correct. Entourage was never that great, outlook isn't too horrible though (at least in my years of using it at work on windows).
You'll need to find a script or search online for a solution to this though. I do not foresee Microsoft adding Growl support for any of their applications.
