I think in general moving to the Mac app Store will be a good move in the long run.
I have a feature request though... I think it will be very important for Growl to add a 'Notifications' tab accessible from the system tray that resembles the new feature coming in IOS5. As well as the onscreen notifications, it will be useful to be able to look at them as a list for the ones we missed. The layout and interface will of course require some thought - there may be a better way of doing it that in the system tray. With 'Notifications' in IOS5 undoubtedly becoming an integral part of how users interact with their iDevice, Apple are inevitable going to need to add a similar system on the Mac Desktop so that iMessage, Facetime, Reminders etc. can also work well in OSX. Much as we have seen many of the best new Lion features pulled from IOS, I think this trend will continue with iMessage, Reminders and others getting desktop counterparts. Growl needs to jump on this now. It already has a huge list of applications on the Mac that make use of it. It has a good chance of becoming the de-facto standard on the desktop. If it doesn't Apple will certainly copy (imitation being the sincerest etc..) it and create their own system. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Growl Discuss" group.
