I am attempting to get Growl + Google to work correctly.

1-It posts Skype contacts who come on line - but the bubble remains
and after 30 minutes I have a screen full of bubbles telling me who is
on and off line. (I selected the bubble to remain for 7 seconds only)
2-It will not work with Gmail. I am using Chrome, and unchecked any
"notification" preferences in both Chrome and Gmail settings.
  a) In the Growl Preferences box, in Applications, under
Notifications, I selected "Gmail (Google notifier) and checked the
"enable" box. What continues to result is that "New Event (Google
Notifier)" keeps selecting itself once I leave that page, and becoming
enabled - so my selection for Gmail won't save.
  b) I receive no notification for new gmails.
3- Firefox appears to work - it send me a message indicating that
their was a new security update available but it won't download.

To my knowledge, I have downloaded the latest version of Google +
Growl. I Disabled the "Growl" icon in Growl preferences so that I
won't have both Google + Growl and Growl running simultaneously. I'n
not certain that this was the correct action to take, but even when
both Growl and Google + Growl were enabled, the same problems were
encountered.

10.5.8 is the current MAC update being used. This is a home/school
computer, MacBook Pro (2009) and although it runs of a wireless
router, it is not connected to any network or shared with any other
computers. The latest versions of both Firefox and Chrome and Skype
are being used.

This is somewhat of an urgent matter. I have spent a number of hours
attempting to solve this issue as I am studying for the Medical
Licensing Step I Boards and am relying on this application to apprise
me of Skype study groups coming on line and of new gmail. As such, it
had landed up impeding my studies as opposed to enhancing them. I can
be reached at (773) 219-9597 if this issue requires feedback with
dialogue.

Thank you. Any assistance will be much appreciated.
