First, do not delete all your prefs. Getting Growl to work typically does not 
require this. I'm typing this more as a warning to others who come across this 
thread. 

On thunderbird, the problem we have is that Mozilla decided they wanted to 
implement a customized framework of their own, and basically ripped ours apart 
and then put it back together. The good part is that I can tell you that when I 
tried it, firefox seemed to work so it appears that if thunderbird uses the 
same functionality, then that will work as well.

If other applications work, make sure you look through al
