He is, and he is not. It is not up to Growl to support applications, it is up to applications to support Growl. Many popular OS X applications do support Growl (see the list here: http://www.growl.info/applications) However, Apple itself has not added Growl support to any of its applications. Therefore, Apple-made applications (so, most of the ones mentioned by David) will not support Growl out of the box :( Having said that, there have been a number of projects and small utilities made over the years to drop in support to the Apple apps.
