you can use the uninstaller, which you can get from here: http://growl.info/downloads
however, there may be an issue, due to some funny behaviour on the mac app store's part where that'll result in you losing both. the safest option is to first remove growl 1.3 (go to launchpad, click and hold on growl, click x), then run the uninstaller, then re-download growl from the app store.
