Regarding the ability to seed Growl notifications to your iOS device, you should check out Prowl - http://www.prowlapp.com/ - it does exactly what you are requesting. I have been using it for the last year and it works great. Just install the Prowl plugin and Growl and download the app from your iphone or ipad. I currently have Transmission ping my phone when a download completes. Very slick.
