Notifications come from applications you use, so you need applications that
talk to Growl.

For iTunes, there's an application called GrowlTunes which was included with
previous versions of Growl. Version 1.2.2, which was and still is included with
Growl 1.2.2, should work fine with Growl 1.3. The 1.2.2 disk image is here:

Skip the Growl installer (you don't need or want to install Growl 1.2.2, since
you already have 1.3); go directly to the Extras folder.

For email, it depends on what program—if any—you use to read your mail. For
Apple Mail, there is a plug-in named GrowlMail:

        http://code.google.com/p/growlmail

Thunderbird and Sparrow support Growl, but their support for it is incompatible
with 1.3. If you use either of those, you'll need to wait until Mozilla or the
Sparrow developers release an update.

If you access Gmail through Google's web interface, you can use the Google
Notifier with this plug-in for Growl support:

        http://wafflesoftware.net/googlegrowl/

I don't know whether it's compatible with Growl 1.3 or not.

For downloads, likewise, it depends on what program you download files with.
Most downloading applications support Growl; most web browsers don't.
