My experience is that ESC only works if you first bring the rollup into focus by clicking on it.
Also a keyboard fanatic, I would also find it useful to have the rollup show up as an icon in CMD+TAB so I can treat it like any other app. I would like to be able to hide, close or position it like any other window. I would find it more useful as a sort of temporary todo- list if I had that kind of control. I don't necessarily want it to be ALWAYS ON TOP.
