Try Josh's suggestions, first, but if you still have trouble, here are a couple of things I had to do: 1. Search for and move any and every instance of anything having "Growl.ap" as a file name. Use the OS's 'archive' function (Look in Finder->File->Compress). Once you have 'compressed/archived' the file, delete the original and empty the Trash. 2. If you have any external drives that have back ups that might include Growl.app, disconnect them. 3. You should also remove any older versions of Growl. Since it used to be a pref pane, it should be in either your user/Library/ Preferences folder or your boot drive/Library/Preferences folder. I'd suggest using the Finder's 'Compress' function on these files, also. 4. Restart your Mac. 5. You should now be able to get the App Store to let you RE-download Growl for free. If you are still having trouble finding Growl.app in your Applications folder, there are probably still bits of the old version somewhere on your drive. It can be tedious, but I think until all those files have been removed/compressed, you will just be frustrated by problems. Finally, remember that Growl needs support from the apps that use it. Until all those developers update their work, you may not see notifications from many of them. Growl can only report what it is told. It relies on the other developers to make their apps actually tell it something. Hope that helps. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Growl Discuss" group.
