I've just removed 1.2.2 and upgraded to buy the 1.3.1 release from the
app store. I read that I needed to remove 1.2.2 so I did that by
running the uninstaller which was successful.

The moment I did that all notifications stopped working in my favorite
apps - no notifications in Sparrow, Transmit or Coda.

I downloaded the Growl Version detective and proceeded to upgrade all
the apps to 1.3. One problem here - if the app is installed by the Mac
App Store (ie. Sparrow) then my user doesn't have privileges to
upgrade the Framework Version. I tried adding custom permissions to
allow me to do this on the app with no luck. Either way - even the
apps I did add like Transmit/Coda that now have the latest version
running still send no updates.

What's going on here? Growl used to be reliable... it's not exactly
nuclear rocket science in an app. Notifications should just work.
