I suspect that you need to do any installing/deleting/removing of any version of Growl manually. I'm betting that you have two versions of Growl installed. 1.2.2 is a Preference Panel, the new one is a stand- alone application. You can use one or the other but having both installed causes nothing but problems. However, you cannot simply choose which version of Growl to install, there are other pieces of any app that you want to use it with that must also be installed. The 1.2.2 version uses different pieces than the new one. Each app's developer should create new code to make his app work with the new version, until they do, the old version is the only one you can use with that app...but you can't, then, also use the new version of Growl. Catch 22? Not really, it's just that Growl is not like any other app you probably have installed. While I said it is a 'stand-alone' app, that doesn't mean it doesn't need any other apps to operate. It ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY needs other apps to tell it when something in that app happens! Otherwise, it will not make any notifications of any kind about that other app. Period. I suspect that what has happened to you is that you installed the new version, then used the Growl Version Detective to update some/all the apps that you wanted to get notifications from. Now, you have re- installed the old version of Growl but are expecting it to use the new code that was changed with the Version Detective app. I don't think that will work. You need to decide which version of Growl to use. Then, if it's the old one, you'll probably have to go to the developer's site to get the older version of their app, the one that worked with the earlier Growl. Be advised, however, that any new updates to that app will probably not work with the old version of Growl. The developers are updating their apps, irregularly and not always in any great hurry, to work with the new version of Growl. But you can continue using 1.2.2 as long as you like, just don't expect it to continue working as it did. First, I'd suggest deleting any and all files relating to Growl. Use a good search tool (something better than Spotlight which will include practically any other search tool out there, IMHO). Now, decide which version of Growl you want and re-install it and any app which you changed with the Version Detective app. Note that this very forum has a search function, some of your questions may have already been answered, so try a search with some key words in your previous posts. Many people don't like to clutter forums by posting "that answer is in post "XYZ." ;-) Other times, people get too busy with their own questions and fail to answer others.
