We've taken the position that a notification is something that should be small. We have the checkbox you are referring to because some people about 6 years ago decided to argue on irc for 3 days straight about this, and finally I just had to make a decision on it.
Growl displays notifications, that's the bottom line. If it's more than 5 lines, is it really a notification anymore? Our thoughts are that no, these are not notifications, but something more. I can understand where you are coming from, but at the end of the day we feel that a notification should be some small tidbit of information, and if you want to know more you can click to see it. :) -- Chris Forsythe @The_Tick (http://twitter.com/The_Tick) On Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 1:10 AM, Francis McGrew wrote: > Since notifications are limited to 5 lines by default, if a single line is > too long it will take up two lines, and the bottom lines will be cut off. > Since my app displays song titles/albums that can be very long, I have to > implement my own clipping code to make sure all my 5 lines are displayed. > This is kind of a hack, so I want to request a mechanism to have Growl clip > long lines to a single line by truncating the tail or middle with an > ellipsis.
