I guess I should say "Welcome to the forums/threads!" Mainly because even a cursory examination of the topics would indicate to you that 1.2 is no longer being supported. It was the last version since 1.3, 1.3.1, 1.3.2, 1.3.3 and the upcoming release of 1.4. You are getting the notices because that's how your prefs are set. BTW, the big change is that Growl is no longer a Pref Pane (thanks to Apple's new rules!). It also now costs a whopping $1.99, so start saving your pennies!
There are many other things you will need to know before buying the new version at the Mac App Store, but that info I will leave as an exercise for the reader... of the many threads here, as well as their web site.
